Cheesy Garlic Bread
Yield: 8-10 servings
Prep time: 5 mins
Total time: 20 mins
Ingredients
1 loaf French or Italian bread
½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
1 tbsp fresh chopped parsley
½ tsp basil (can be fresh or dried)
½ tsp red pepper flakes
3-4 cloves garlic, grated or minced
Black pepper
½ cup grated parmesan
½-1 cup mozzarella cheese
½-1 cup cheddar cheese
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine butter, parsley, garlic, basil, and red pepper flakes. Season to taste with pepper.
- Slice your bread loaf in half. Coat completely with butter mixture.
- Add your cheeses. I sprinkled my parmesan first, then added my mozzarella, then cheddar.
- Bake for 10 minutes in oven, then broil under high for 2 minutes.
- Slice and serve.
Recipe Tips
- You can use as little or as much cheese as you would like. Alternatively, you can omit the cheese completely to make garlic bread.
- Make sure the loaf you choose is fresh and soft. There really is not a large difference between a French and Italian loaf.
- When broiling the bread, monitor closely. It is very easy to burn the bread if you are not careful. I kept the oven cracked open as my bread broiled, so I could watch how it broiled. I also rotated the pan a couple times to make sure the bread toasted evenly.
